Ok i want too build a gaming pc and want too keep the price as low as possible, i already priced up a system i'm not sure if all parts are compatable anyway, i was wondering if someone could price me up a PC that is even cheaper (i dont mind if a AMD processor is used) but will play games well, these are the parts i have priced already.

To build a cheaper (less expensive0 system you will need to go with AMD.
A Socket 939 based system would fit you well and is very cost-effectice yet provides plenty of gaming fun.
Speed costs money, how fast you wanna go..?
Concentrate on a mid-range CPU............

and a quality GPU such as this one............

This motherboard fits nicely into the equation.........

That Hyundai monitor is probably more trouble than it's worth, check out the "Viewsonic" models for a quality monitor.
Choosesome compatible RAM from Corsair and let er rip.

You're kidding, right?

New_Faith, the system you spec is quite good, it'll do alot more than gaming. Maybe Dog's post is suggesting what to do if you wanna go alot cheaper, but I'm not convinced it's the best option.

What you have will do just fine for quite awhile. When DX10 bugs are worked out and games are released that actually support DX10, you may look at a PSU and GPU upgrade.....but that likely won't be for awhile.

IMHO the most important factors to consider when selecting a monitor are the Contrast Ratio (at least 700:1), Response time (at least 5ms), Refresh Rate (at least 100Hz), Manufacturer (1st Tier) and the Recommended Resolution (at least 1024 x 768) aka the resolution that the monitor is "comfortable" running at.
Match the capabilities of the GPU with the monitor so everything works together as a team.

I'd HIGHLY reccommend you get a better mouse. There is no use having a good pc and a crappy mouse or a good mouse and a crappy pc. I'd reccommend A microsoft intellimouse or one of their laser mice if you dont want to spend much. On the flipside you have the Logitech mx518 and g5 and the Razer series of gaming mice.

Why would you spend so much on a killer rig and neglect your mouse completely? 2gb ram? x1900xt? A crappy logitech mouse? Seriously now...

I don't know the exact euro to usd conversion rate, but look at G.skills 2gb kits, they have very cheap kits and are better IC's than the valueselect bs that is corsair.

Good point. MX518 is a great mouse. Don't bother with the cordless ones.....they are proven to have slower responses than corded. If you play FPS games, you'll get pwned with a cordless ;)

I agree that coordless are less efficient than coorded, but disagree with that they are bad for gaming. I used a mx700 for a year and was very good at kicking ass with it.

If you are buying from Overclockers.co.uk, forget the next day delivery and sink the cash into a better mouse.

I ordered from them a few months back, and while the prices and equipment were cheap and good, the delivery was terrible. They hire out the delivery contracts to local deliverers, and depending on the quality of the local contracters, you may not get it when you ask for it.

I bought this mouse from them.

Razer Copperhead Anarchy Red 2000dpi High Precision Gaming Mouse - Retail (KB-017-RA)

And it is absolutely stunning. Best mouse I have ever used by so far its a shame I never had it years ago.

Its only £12 more than the one you are planning, and it is well worth it.

I think the person should decide for herself wich mouse to choose. The Microsoft mice do not perform as well as the gaming series of logitech or Razer, but they are much cheaper and do perform well enough for competetive play. There is also the price factor, for me I play very competetively and always buy the product that will improve my game the very most. If I was a casual player I would not have shelled out 60$ for the logitech g5.

The form factor of the mouse is also important, some people play better with a technically inferior mouse because they can handle it better. I play much much better with an xbox 360 controllr for plane sims than I do with a saitek x52. I simply cannot control a plane with a joystick even though it is superior technically. (although if I were competetively into dogfighting I would force myself to use the better tool) I also hate the form factor of the Razer mice.

These are good mice for very cheap:

Razer Viper:

Then you have the big daddys of mice. Logitech mx518, G3, G5, G7. Razer Copperhead, Diamondback. Microsoft Lazer 6000 and the new intellimice There are others, but these guys are the ones you want if you plan on playing at your max.

Mousepad is also important, having more mousing surface is great too.
