Hey,

I just built a new rig and I'm a little worried about the stock fan/heatsink on my Intel Core 2 Duo. I haven't got a graphics card yet (it arrives in the next couple of days) but I hit the power button to check that everything was connected and noticed that the fan spun up for a few seconds then stopped. I turned it off and it spun again briefly.

Is this normal? I don't was to start using it and overheat the chip. I plan on getting a Zahman or something in the near future but having bought lots of bits and pieces I'm a bit short of getting it this month.

I've heard of fans that get faster as the chip heats up, but I wouln't imagine this kind of tech be installed in a stock fan.

Thanks!

That kind of "tech" is part of the C2D platform. mpilchfamily is right though, wait until you get the rest of your euqipment.

Also, except for possibly the CNPS9700, avoid the Zalman like the plague. Do your research.
