Is there a website or publicly available website which tracks the legal
status wrt 802.11a/b RF channels in all the countries of the world?
I'm guessing this must exist somewhere since some APs provide country
code settings for this kind of thing and would need to source the
channel information from somewhere.

The USA FCC regulations is one source. But if I remember correctly,
tomsnetworking.com has the table in a much friendlier format!
