I'm looking to upgrade my AGP card. Right now i have a X1600. I have a Dell Dimension 8300 and would like to buy a card that would fit right into this W/O having to buy a new PS. I think the PS is 300W don't even remember. I plan to buy a new comp once all the new tech is out maybe like 3 to 6 months. I don't want to spend more than 150 on this. Anyone know of some good cards that would fit my situation? I was also reading about how some of the cards hook into the PS. Anyone know if my PS can do that W/O having to buy an additional wire? I want the card for gaming. Games such as WoW and Gods and Hero's.

Well im kinda surprised the 1600 works with such a bad Power supply. I'm sure its not that bad but if it is nothing comes to mind that is going to be good. Wait the time to buy a new comp maybe someone else will throw in thier two cents but with a 300watt its not looking to realistic.

I would check your PSU i dont think you have a 300watt.

according to that its that or a 250watt. both equaly bad if your looking for a new graphics card. They may have put the best card in there that you can have :-/

If you want a better graphics card then upgrade the PSU. You can use PC Power&Cooling if you want an oem fit, or you can buy any aftermarket PSU and fit it in your Dell case. You may have to do some Dremeling on the back of the case to fit an aftermarket PSU, nothing too major.

BTW, the 250 and 305 watt rating is maximum contiunous power, not peak. The Dell 250 watt is easily a 300 watt peak PSU. However, I know for a fact that the 250 watt unit is rated at 16 amps on the 12v rail, which is why a different PSU is needed for a better graphics card.

I have the same problem now, an old Dell Dimension 8300 with 305 watts power supply and AGP connections. Did you ever find an answer to the best video card that would work with these limitations.
