I'm upgrading my aging PC for something that will run my new favorite game, Battlefield 2142, with high settings. I'm looking to spend somewhere around $275 for the graphics card alone and have looked into both nVidia's GeForce 7900GTO and ATi's Radeon X1900XT 256MB card but the question is, which one will give me better performance? Or is the performance close enough that I should just pick whichever one I like more?

Both are great options.

Check the benchmarks, and decide.

7900GTO is a great overclocker also.

X1900XT gets my vote. Better IQ and a little more performance in the majority of games. It takes BF2, not sure on 2142.

From what I've read the x1900 xt would definitely be your best bet at that price range, and I was planning on buying one for the new PC I'm building until I read this article so now I'm holding out for the x1950 xt which will offer better performance at the same price point.

7900GTO you cant go wrong. 512mb of ram plus it can be easily OCed to GTX speeds also it has the added bonus of costing 250$ (either at newegg or tigerdirect)
