What do you guys think is the best, most stable, overclockable socket 939 board without SLI. Will pair with a AMD 64 3700+ and get the most out of it I can.
Edited: forgot to add cheapest!

With or Without SLI, the DFI expert will get you the most overclocking headroom. But you better know what you're doing, and have decent components, or you'll not get far. If you're looking for a 25% or less overclock, most any nforce 4 board will do. I haven't had a 6100/410 board that couldn't do 25%. They're in the $50-75 range and give you the option of moving your GPU on to your next mainboard and selling the old system to someone who doesn't need a "real" GPU; For office work and such.

 Me, know what I am doing?
Anyway, I am more of a searcher and reader to figure things out. I don't want anything that is too much of a PIA to overclock. Somebody has suggested an Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro to help in overclocking endeavors. It's $25, but might be well worth it.

since 939 boards are almost completely phased out, you will be buying old stock

cpus are very difficult to find now also

so the price between sli and non sli boards wont be that much

I use an Asus Nforce4 with opteron 146 (2000Mhz) clocked effortlessly to 2.5G without adding any voltage

These are the easiest CPUs to OC, and dont run hot either

I'm staying clear of AM2 for now, i get so many clients having trouble with DDR2 667 rams...

my post was under the impression that he already has a 939mobo.
and is looking to upgrade a cpu (3700?) witch imo is the best
price/performance singlecore available.

or has a 939 mobo and is going for a 3700cpu but is ? about sli
or not.

edit; my remark about the dfi is in referrence to his talk of oc,ing

Ha, neither are true. I have nothing at this time, but was trying to get the cheapest system that is fast enough to run the latest games well. The only thing I have is a Pentium4 3.2Ghz laptop with integrated ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 and 512 mb Ram (-128 max for video).
Worse than that, though, I picked up a basically worthless computer for free. It is a Pentium III 550Mhz, 128 mb ram, 15" CRT, 40GB HDD running on Windows 98. The only thing I wanted it for was to surf the web and some occasional wordprocessing. I don't think there is too much salvageable there to sell for parts.

What about DFI Lanparty Ultra vs. Epox 9npaj sli? I know DFI is known for overclocking, but as I have never done this, I would like it not to be very difficult of a process if that helps.

While i cant personally vouch for them i have heard that epox boards offer outstanding overclockablity and stability for the price.

Yea, Newegg only sells 88 different S939 boards these days so you better hurry up before they are all gone.

cpus are very difficult to find now also

Yea, Newegg only sells 32 different S939 CPUs, so they are VERY difficult to find. Almost impossible, unless you know how to get to Newegg or ZZFly. Where do you come up with this crap?

so the price between sli and non sli boards wont be that much

Maybe 20% penalty for SLI.

To the OP: Many people have good luck with this non-SLI DFI mobo. I've used it and like DFI's top S939 board better but then again it costs about $70 more.

I was thinking Epox EP-9NPA3 Ultra and forget about SLI. Pair with Arctic Cooler Freezer 64 pro for $25 and 1gb G. Skill DDR Ram for $115.

I am way into Battlefield 2. Would just like to be able to play that well. Later could add another 1GB stick.

to clueless:

I know you guys in the US are a bit behind but i didnt think by that much

locally, it is near impossible to buy 939 cpus, as for motherboards we still have many...... old stock (16+8) selling for below cost, we still have a few 16+16 but they will gather dust since as you all know AMD will halt 939 production completely very soon

anyway i digress...

if you dont have the $$$ for a conroe system and can get hold of a decent OC'able 939 CPU then this would be your best choice

Why? because for gaming a 939 system gives much more bang for your buck than any other

Don't call the US behind when we still have access to S939. It's the other way 'round... And whaddya know, the US has good access to new toys too.

Value doesn't go out of style.
