I have just downloades Microsoft resder (and activated it), but most of the
books I have, many downloaded from Microsoft just lock up my PPC. It is a
HP hx4700, so it should not be short on processing power. The "Reader help"
and some other "*.lit" books work, but larger files like " Encarta® Pocket
Dictionary" downloaded from Microsoft do not open. It is interesting to
note that the two arrows start to rotate as if doing a sync even if the PPC
is not in the cradle. Any ideas ?

I have just been fighting this isue with my ASus a730w which is also a
vga PDA. I finally solved it with this that I found in a forum on the
web (I'm not taking ny credit for the following):
All of the problems with Microsoft Reader have to do with the
pixel-doubling emulation in wm2003se on a VGA device..
If you unzip the attached msreader.0409.mui file in the same directory
as msreader.exe, it tells wm2003se to bypass the pixel-doubling
emulation.
The result is no more lockups, encarta works perfectly, and everything
looks better.
It only works with MS Reader 2.3
Load the file into the MS Reader directory on your PDA, in the folder
where msreader.exe exists. Reboot the device. Check your ebooks again.
It worked for me. Hope it works for you too.
