hi ive never ocd my old pc before but its starting to have trouble running the latest softwarez etc so i thought id give it ago.
okay so i got the processor running stable at about 2.52 ghz with a little bit more juice and multiplier settings
the thing i understand the least is the mem. im looking at A64Tweaker.exe
my memory is LEGEND pc3200 DDR400 btw (running at 209mhz)
the cas latency: 2.25,
ras-to-cas: 3
ras to ras: 3
min ras active : 7
i got those numbers from looking at other peoples posts on this forum and they seem to work fine.
there are a lot more ram timing settings available - r there any others i should look at? getting my ram any faster than 210 mhz seems to make it crash - is this normal for this type of memory? should i try giving it more power?
i have given the CPU +.075 (1.475) and the ht link +0.1, is that okay?
the exact model of the memory is T6464D47-BU1LDC9M. i downloaded the specifications pdf from legends website however it doesnt seem to mention any timing values, only electrical stuff.
i got the program prime95 and tried all three torture tests which failed instantly so i guess this is indicating both the processor and ram are set to fast...is that right?
also, i have clocked up the agp port (running a radeon 9250) to over 100mhz without any problems, is this a good idea/normal? granted, the only graphical application i use at all is milkdrop and media player. but i thought it might be worth bumping it up for better performance in milkdrop.
one final question, i have got the program speedfan. my 'core' temp is only 30 degrees celcius under stress (an i live in a hot climate), however the temperature of my ide hdd is 49 and has a warning (i didnt even know my harddrive had a monitor), is something going wrong?
also, speedfan says i have 3 fans and 'Fan2' is off. i can only see 2 fans visably when i open the box; one on the processor and one on the case. is speedfan making a mistake or do i really have another one that is off (maybe thats why the hdd is overheating)??
