Hi

I have been building computers for a while but never built a socket 775 computer. So I just got my Core 2 Duo processor and I opened the package and there I see the processor and the heatsink fan.

Well as I can see the heatsink fan has at the copper zone some gray stuff which I believe is the included thermal paste right? My question is, while installing my Core 2 Duo processor, should I put thermal paste? or I can just put the heatsink fan in because as I said I think those 2 gray squares on the heatsink look like thermal paste so I dont know if Im right or not.

Some help please.

Intel's stock thermal compound. It should work fine as long as you're running stock, however, even at stock personally I'd clean that crap off and use some AS5.
