I'm looking for a performance configuration for my OS drive and here is my question. What setup will have the best overall performance?

Two WD 10,000 RPM Raptors, SATA 150, in RAID 0

or

Two like branded SATA II 3.0 gbs 7200 RPM (16 mb cache) in RAID 0

Thoughts?

Which is more important to you: Saving a few seconds here and there or drive capacity?
If all you want is speed and money doesnt matter get the raptors. If you want capacity and extra cash get the regular sata drives.

Both will perform very well, raptors will be a tad bit faster.

im just gonna expand on this by saying if you want speed and space take a close look at the 7200.10 320GB seagates, the 750gb version is as fast as a 74GB Raptor, and i dont think the 320GB is far off raptor speeds either.

take a look

seagate vs raptor Read speeds

Write Speeds

the only place its slower is the random access time wich is probably the difference between 7200 and 10000 rpm.
