I'm looking at the Nvidia ATI Radeon X1900 GT. Do you think this is the better card to purchase, or is there something else you'd reccomend?
Nvidia has nothing to do with the X1900 series. If you want something in the 200 range, then get the X1950 Pro. It's the new replacement for the X1900 GT. Slightly better performance, internal Crossfire, and same price. There are tons of reviews on the web.
Sorry, my bad about the Nvidia Ati thing. Must've been tired that night. But I was looking for a comparison. How do you think the ATI x1950 Pro would compare to the Nvidia 7950?
the x850xt is nice i can run all games on max (1280x1024 resolution) and now i think its going dfor around $100, the next card ill br geting will be a dx 10 one, there is no point on geting high end cards now with the dx10 ones so close.(just my opinion)
The 7950GT is faster but from a price/perf ratio, the X1950Pro is the winner. And if you can get the ASUS version (without VIVO) at Newegg for $171, you'd get one hell of a bargain.
For the money, the 7900GTX or X1900XTX isn't that much more than the 7950GT and much better.
Newegg has an updated ETA of 11/6. I've never looked to see if they're accurate or not, so you'll have to find out then. Last time, the ASUS was in stock for about 3 hours before selling out, because 171 is dirt cheap for a 1950 Pro.

Very important, the Asus card you all are trying to buy won't work in Crossfire if you buy two, without then ordering 2 connectors. Asus did a poor job posting this in their material, but their "cheap" version does NOT include the connector cable for Crossfire, and you will have to but a "special" crossfire version of their 1950 pro to get both connectors. Maybe it's just me, but that's just plain dumb, as it flies completely opposite of ATI's intentions for the 1950 pro to be as simple as buying 2 and plug it up. The idea was you didn't need to buy a special version anymore.
I didn't find out about this until recently. I only thought the ASUS didn't have VIVO.
I alos think it's kind of crappy for ASUS to do this that's for sure especially since that card is selling for $199 at zipzoomfly and you can get one of the other cards for the same price which have the connectors.
So, based on this, I'd stay away from the ASUS version.
