I'm thinking of picking up one of those happy dell 24" widescreens. I figure, with a screen like that, I could stand to do some gaming on my PC like the good ol' days. How powerful of a video card would I need to run some of the more visually appealing games at it's native resolution (or whatever it chops off to for 4:3 when wide screen isn't supported)?

I am running SLI 2x 7800GTs with 256Mb on each card. I cannot play games with 1920x1080 on my 37" Acer-screen, because I think the drivers for SLI is doing some evil work here... It works if I only run one card, but with two in SLI it will not do 1920x1080 in games, but in Windows and other programs it is fine.
So in games I am running 1360x768 and in non-widescreen games (4:3) I am using 1400x1050 and I can always max the graphics...

lets see, there are 745.699872 watts in 1 horsepower, so you tell me how many horsepower you will need :p, jk but if i were you i would deffinatly go with a dual card solution, right now if i wanted to run something like that i would go with a x1900xt crossfire solution personally cus of price or just get 1 7950GX2 and you should be ok...i think
