Hello All,

I am generally happy with my new build – but I have posted in the recent past some issues I have had with running one game – Dungeons and Dragons Online (DDO). I finally found a thread which helped me to resolve the core issue, but I need some advice from the collective on how to improve my situation. My system specs are listed below.

The core issue at hand is the fact that my Asus P5B (Vanilla) steps up and down the multiplier for the CPU. The default is 266x9 or 2394Mhz, but at light loads, it drops to 266x6. This switch in multiplier affects the game, and creates an unstable and unusable environment that requires a reset to resolve.

My solution involves dropping down the max multiplier from 9 to 6 within the BIOS. This being the lowest possible multiplier, creates a stable environment and the game plays well enough. This brought my system to 266x6 or 1596Mhz which is about 66% of the default. I then adjusted the core frequency to 320x6 or 1920Mhz – this brings me to around 80% of the default. Of course I could leave it alone and play well enough with my system, but that is not the way of the geek.

My question to the collective is how can I improve my solution. I would like to get back up to the default levels without having the stepping scenario, although I cannot figure out how to hold the multiplier at 9.

Thank you for your assistance.
