At the top of that card it has what looks like a place for an SLI type bridge... I wonder what thats for?

I know these are suppose to be dongless crossfire models... but whats that for?

Also, are these better then the x1900xt 256 cards?

Its for the Crossfire connector strip.
Its a flexible bridge that takes the place of the external dongle.

In the picture above its the copper colored strip just below the CD. Picture from the ATI version.
It bothers me that you can't find the connector in the ASUS collection of accessories that's on NewEgg.
ATI, HIS and Sapphire accessory photos all show the connector, but not Asus.

This is intentional. ASUS is doing a marketing gimmic where one of their cards comes with 2 connectors and one comes with none, and they're labeling them as a Crossfire card and the other just plain. They'll probably mark up the "Crossfire" version up a bit. Newegg only offers the plain version. So, if you want Crossfire, it's not as great a deal as you'll have to buy their other card or grab another connector on Ebay or something.

That gives some serious competition to the 7600GT, which stayed untouched in its price segment for well over a month now. I would definitly invest the additional 30$ for it.

Please note that the ASUS card doesn't support VIVO! The X1950 PRO is supposed to have an integrated RAGE theater chip to support this (please correct me if I'm wrong), and my guess is that the ASUS cut some corners to help drop the price of the card...

Damn. Maybe I should buy them all and sell them on Ebay. 8)

Updated. Video Card Price/Performance Analysis.

The ASUS X1950Pro has a Price/Perf of 3.10.

Now, if ATI gets the driver fixed for the X1950Pro in Xfire for Quake4, this might be the 1st card to actually recommend for a dual slot solution over a single card solution.
