I've got a friend who has an old Duron with 1Gb of DDR on a K7
He wants to play old games like Command n Conquer Generals thats about it nothing fancy, should he upgrade the board and chip to say a Sempron or get a graphics card (AGP) budget is about $200?

His motherboard should probably take an AthlonXP if it's not too old.
Do you know the motherboard? That would be a good cheap CPU upgrade.

That and, say, a $75 Radeon X700 would get him running in Generals methinks.

Yeah the board is a 'Asrock K7VM4'

That mobo will take most AthlonXPs, up to a 333mhz bus, so that should be fine.
