Problems with new Hdd

I got a new WD caviar 80gig hd last week and i keep having this problem. When Ever i try to play a game the hd makes 1 click then freezes(usually with in 20sec-30min in). Sometimes when im not doing anything but on firefox it still does it, but that hasnt happened for a few days. It also does it when windows boots up and it will just freeze. Any clue on what might be wrong? Could the hd be defective?

Try testing your RAM with Memtest86+. Also, if you could list brand and model number of all your components, including CPU and power supply, it would help.

I'm gonna agree with you here.

Also, this may seem really dumb but I had a similar problem a while back, have you defragged your HDD lately? I know it sounds dumb, but that was my problem.

I defragmented, but havnt seen if it worked yet. How do i use Memtest86+? i dl'ed it, but how do i get it to run?

There should be instructions on how to make a memtest86+ boot floppy or boot CD. What I usually do is just burn an image of the Ultimate Boot CD, which includes memtest86+ on it.
