Steroids for SATA?

Hi, I´ve a HP Pavillion 4100z (P4 3.0 Core duo, 2 GB RAM 666 Mhz, ASUS MoBo 800 MHz FSB, ATI X1300 256 MB Video Card and Hitachi Deskstart 500MB SATA 2 HDD).

Since beginning I´ve noticed ths HDD running rather slow; slower than my older P4 2.4 Ghz 512 MB, 250 MB HDD IDE.

Today I ran a test and it just showed a 14.500 kbps, compare that with my very slow AMD 1500 with 200 MB IDE system (19500 KBPS)

This is a HP Built system, so I think it should be well built ... som why it´s so slow?

possibly its dying?

mab the motor is dying. idk though, back up all that data fast. run chkdsk (sp) asap.

i could be completely wrong, but since u have another hd availble, back up ur sata before it's too late
