If you put the CD into another system that's already running windows, does it have a single big file on it with an ".ISO" file type? If so, you've burned the CD the wrong way. Rather than just copying the file to a blank CD, you need to use the ".ISO" file to burn an image to the CD.

The answer is quite simple. Beg steal or borrow a windows xp pro disk. install that first. when the machine is booted up and running fine insert the windows7 disk. Choose custom install and way to go. it worked for me and it worked on every p.c that I have come across that was showing code 5.

It May be the problems of the Boot disk In case of Error 5 you should have to reinstall windows 7 or it can be problems of factory setting, This would be clear after watching the computer

My solutuon stands up. There is nothing wrong with the machine. It is just just an old machine.

the easiest thing to do by far,is get hold of a win 7 recovery cd ,boot that ,get in to DOS
CD: to the D drive(mostlikely)
type setup.exe
job done

obviously youve got to swap the recovery cd for the win7 dvd once you are at the dos prompt
