It depends on what you want to use the scanner for.

If you want to scan 35 mm film, that requires the scanner have a built-in
Transparency Adapter and have enough resolution for film, at least 2400 dpi.

Optical resolution is the only number you pay attention to, in the Spec, it
is the First number. When they say 2400 X 4800 dpi, the optical resolution
for this scanner is 2400 dpi.

If all you want to scan is flat stuff, pictures, magazines, newspapers and
letters, then any flatbed scanner will do. All the resolution that paper
needs is 300-600 dpi.
