The support tech on the phone said and I quote, "if the driver doesn't work for you then your a moron." he then hung up on me...This is after an hour long session where they claimed that it was my fault that the X-FI drivers would not work on my MSI P6N Diamond motherboard. I've had a hundred email exchanges and they're all the same canned knowledgebase FAQ's that I originally attempted when I purchased this board months ago. Going to Creative's support forums indicate that everyone is having issues with Vista, XP and the x-fi drivers. My issue is that the mic is detected as being plugged in and not working when it is in fact disconnected, and showing as disconnected when plugged into either front panel or rear. Stereo headset is auto-detected as being 7.1 surround sound, X-52 5.1 headset is detected as 4 channel. No mode switching available, and looping, distorted sound in XP when Microphone is enabled. The mic doesnt function at all in vista 32 or 64 although the x-fi sound seems to work fine.
I ask that if anyone here has had issues with Creative that they take just a few minutes to file a complaint online with the Better Business Bureau. Too many companies are following Creative's lead and promising their products work and are supported in Vista or other OS's and then falling back on the fine print..Honestly, if these computer parts companies were fast food, then they would be shut down for poisoning of their customers. Is there no regulation of these companies..Heck, I can claim to have a soundcard thats perfectly supported by all OS's and the best ever. Get your money, then mail ya an X-fi and driver disk that states clearly on it, Not supported by Windows XP, Vista 32, and Vista 64. And guess what, there isnt a bloody thing you can do about it. This is what Creative labs is currently doing, and it needs to be stopped.
Please take a few minutes and post a complaint here.
