I just got a Bluetooth stereo headphone (from Bluetake
(http://www.bluetake.com/products/BT420EX.htm) and they really sound
very nice!
With the BT dongle (BT430) that comes with the headset attached to the
iPAQ's audio connector things work as expected.
Now, I was wondering: the HP iPAQ hx4700 has built-in Bluetooth.
Shouldn't it thus be possible to run this connection without any
additional dongle?
So I ran through the device detection, headset pairing and connection
exercise and indeed one can use the headphone directly without the
dongle. But, alas, in what a lousy quality and in mono only!
Obviously the hx4700 does not suppport the A2DP protocol that is
required to transfer better quality and stereo via BT but only the HSP
(Headset Profile).
Can this A2DP be added? Is it e.g. available as 3rd party product)?
Any idea or pointer?
It would be really cool to run this headset without a dongle. There
seems so little missing to make this match perfect!

As a pointer, Hp has a bluetooth headset that is supposed to sound quite
good with Ipaqs. I wonder what BT driver this uses?

A few weeks ago a Widcomm/Broadcomm file was going around the net which
indeed added A2DP to newer BT PPC drivers. It worked with hx4700, PDA2k and
Harrier.
The company asked the sites to remove the patch, and did not demonstrate the
intention of making it available. The patch was shown during the CES 2004...

Hi - sorry - I only saw this today:

I downloaded and transferred the file to my PPC but it did not install
claiming "this is not a valid Windows CE setup file".

Hi - forget my last append!
I later tried and downloaded the file again and also transferred it to
the PPC again and this time it installed successful - no idea what had
gone wrong the first time...
In the BT connection wizard I now do indeed have two new BT services:
* "Connect to a keyboard" and
* "High Quality Audio setup"
But alas, when trying to activate the latter, it claims, that my headset
does not provide the required service.
So - I can still connect via the headset profile (which alas only yields
a miserable sound quality) but not via the new "High Quality Audio"
setting.
What a pity!
Michael :-(

It has created a "High Quality Audio" profile in the BlueTooth Manager of my
Hp4700, however, when I attempt to connect to the headhpone, it returned an
error of connection failed.
I'd like to know if anybody here has purchased the Hp iPAQ BlueTooth Stereo
Headphone (F303A), as this headphone will come with the BlueTooth A2DP
progile for iPAQ. Please send my the profile (jamesma@hkbase.net) if you
have, and I want to try if this profile can work with my BSH338.
Thanks in advance!
