Last night while online, I stepped away from my pc for awhile, and when I came back, I got a DNS eror when trying to go to any page at all. My cable modem was still showing as connected. My ethernet port is built in to my motherboard. So I rebooted, and Zone Alarm said that a new network was found. My cable connection was still showing connected, but I could not connect. No programs were installed, no settings were changed, nothing diferent at all. So, I shut the computer down, turned off my cable modem, unplugged it, reattached it and attempted to restart my computer. Nothing happened. Is it possible that something fried the ethernet portion of my motherboard (causing me to lose connection) and now it won't start? Here's my setup:

Athlon XP 2000+
XP Pro
Geforce Ti4200 128 mb
IBM Deskstar 7200 rpm 100GB
IBM Deskstar 7200 rpm 80GB
1 GB ram
Sounblaster Audigy
Argh... my motherboard escapes me... only 5 months old... think it is an Epox.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Try disabling the onboard lan and see if it works. It also could be something else is keeping it from booting. You may need to go to a basic setup (last resort): cpu, one hard drive, one memory stick, and graphics card. Then add components untill you have problems.
