Hello all, I just finished installing opteron 165 into my system. As soon as I bootup, I realize my good old friend speedFan is not showing me 2 cpu temp. Instead it only shows me 1 cpu temp, 1 hdd temp, and 1 core temp. The temp monitor that came with my mobo wasn't any help at all. Could someone recommend a program that could help me monitor both core of my cpu before I hit oc. Thanks in advance.
ps: cpu-z 1.37 shows I have 2 cores, but it also says I have Toledo core, I thought 939 opterons have denmark cores. Could this be a error with cpu-z?
I'm using coreTemp now, I'm comparing the temperatures I got from coreTemp to the one I got from speedFan, I guess speedFan's core temperature is like an average of 2 core temperatures I got from coreTemp.
Another strange thing I have notice, before swapping in the opteron, in speedfan, my cpu temp is always like 3 to 6c lower than the core temp reported. Now with opteron in my system, during idle cpu temp is like 5c higher than core temperature. They're almost same temp during max load time. very strange to me.
Lastly, could someone comment on the Teledo core I got here instead of Denmark? It seems like coreTemp is also reporting Teledo core.
Thanks in advance, sorry for such newb questions, it's my first time having a dual core. hehe.
If its an Opty, it has a Denmark core. Either CPU-Z and Coretemp are reporting it wrong, or someone slipped a Toledo processor in the box.
Speedfan, Coretempt, etc do not always report exact temperatures and may disagree with each other, but they should be very close. As you suggest, you might get an average of the two core temp's, with one being hot from use while the other is idling and cool.
