Hello everyone this is my first post here, so here it goes:
i recently placed an order for :
Abit AB9 motherboard
C2D E6400
2x512 mb ddr2 800 mhz (Geil)
Gainward 7950 GT 580/1500

will all of these fit? as i have heard, there are some compatibility issues regarding the ab9 and some 800mhz memory modules....and the release of a new bios version....but i`m not quite sure if i got it straight.

thank you all in advance!

yes, i want to overclock it, though i`ll run in for a couple of days stock, just to see how it performs, check the temperatures, and if i find it stable enough i plan to overclock. It has been said on this website that the processor will overclock to about 3.0 ghz stable with the boxed cooler.
I bought it primarily for overclock, otherwise my choice would be the E6600.
I will use this rig for gaming and photoshop.

thanks for your reply!
*edit

my actual rig is :
amd athlon xp 2400+
gigabyte GA7L nforce2 chipset
geforce fx 5200
2x80gb WD
creative audigy
LOL

667 with 4-4-4-12 timings. Spare for the Crucial tenth anniversary modules if you can because those are higher quality chips (should reach 500Mhz CL5 2.2v). And get 1GB sticks, they OC easier and dual-channel's performance increase is only detected by benchmarking it anyways.
The AB9 series "stick" at 400Mhz, get the Gigabyte DS3 or S3 (P965) instead.
Try luck for the eVGA 7900GTO, same core speed and cooler as the 7900GTX.

the stock coooler will do though to around 3ghz odd, alothough yeh it would be a good dea to invest a few dollars for a AC freezer 7 pro etc, nothing too expensive though if you want to save money :p

The stock cooling is sufficient to achieve at least 3GHz on E6300, and I predict it should be fine for E6400 to achieve 3.2GHz and above? I'm running on stock HSF, but my casing has a couple of fans to promote air ventilation.

around 3ghz odd, though it is difficult to tell due to the vcore used by different processors and different components (eg case cooling as you pointed out wiz83) :)

the case i got is a Thermaltake Armor jr.
its quite good for cooling, i read a few reviews before buying it, so it should do the work. :)
i will overclock it in small steps......and check the temperatures and stability after every overclock.

In fact, most of the E6300 overclockers hit at least 3GHz on stock HSF. There are many articles around the internet, and there's even a statistic thing conducted at HardOCP.

Their articles are for n00bs, and were on our own territory (just snagging some bandwith from their servers hehe)
But you paired them up with a E6300 on stock, so now you should ask yourself, whos better?

I love the stealing/hijacking bandwidth part ...
Maybe one day we should just spam the crap out out thg, do a DoS attack ... :p
Let's hope I don't get in trouble for saying this :p

Btw, this is my 101th post. :p

I have an Ab9-Pro as well as following the Abit forums and have not seen any issues with your Ram. To make sure though upgrade to bios 1.4 or 1.5.

I found v1.5 a big improvement but a few people had problems and went back to v1.4.

The rest should be fine I doubt 3Ghz will present a problem. Just make sure you get the heatsink install right. If you want a recommendation for a cooler the Sythe Mine works well for me at 3.55ghz on an E6600.

I just realized you said you already placed the order for the parts so any recommendations is pointless.

Is it possible for you to cancel the order? There's been some good advice on getting different equipment.

Btw, do you already have a case, PSU, and hard drive?

If you can return anything without a restocking charge, return the 7950GT. Don't know how much you paid for it but the cheapest I've seen that card is $265 and for $35 more you could of bought the 7900GTX at zipzoomfly after MIR.

hello!

first of all i want to thank everyone arround here who gave advices
my order came.....i would have wanted a 7900 gtx or gto, but i am from Romania, my 7950 is about 300 usd.....and the gtx and gto about 450.....
quite a lot.
i installed it last night.......i had an issue with the bios version, i flashed it and now it runs okay.
i installed a couple of games, which ran perfectly.....like i never seen before....
:)
by the way my core2duo runs at 32C idle and 45 during gaming....so i guess its okay.
the video card runs very cool.......i checked from time to time.....but i guess thats because of the proprietary cooler gainward used, not the stock nvidia one.
