7600GT SLI & 7950GT

First I was convinced that the Geforce 7950GT was the right option for me, but when I saw the results from this test
http://techreport.com/reviews/2006q4/radeon-x1950-pro/index.x?pg=5
I was convinced that 7600GT in SLI outperforms the 7950GT in every way.
And since the two 7600GT costs as much as one 7950GT I changed my mind

Then I checked the VGA charts on this page and the story was different, the 7950GT was the one that outperformed 7600GT SLI. 8O

So, could anyone explain to me what is going on or which has the better performance :?: :!:

  1. Virtually identical numbers from what I can see. I'd go with the better card and you could always add another later when prices on the 7950 come down a fair bit, and get far better performance than 7600's in SLI.

SLI doesn't scale 200% either, it's not like you're guaranteed double performance. And SLI doesn't work with dual monitors, if you ever wanted to go that route.

    7950 IMHO ;)

get a ATi x1950pro or an x1900xt, both perform better and are cheaper than the 7950GT

But according to the benchmarks I posted it's not.

Still, I need a pro to explain the diffrence in results :? .
  4. Or if you wanna stay with Nvidia, try to scoop a 7900GTO....basically an underclocked GTX for $200 less ;)

As for explaining results, I'm not a pro. But there are always variances in benchmarks. I wouldn't fret about a few points, or even a few hundred to be honest. Look at the overall. The 7900GTO and X1900XT kick @$$ at very attractive prices.
