I'm thinking of purchasing a new computer soon, but i'm not sure that the cost would be beneficial. My computer is mainly used for internet research and office applications. I"m currently running a 2.4 ghz intel pentium 4 processor with 1 gig of RDRAM. I'm leaning towards a laptop and probably a refurbished one. any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.

Budget is about $900-$1200, and it would be a replacement for my desktop-- mainly office aplications and internet use. I plan to keep the desktop for the few games I play, but most of my work/ education would be on the laptop.
