Asus P5B

i was wondering if the Asus P5B mobo, is good for gaming? i've heard some say yes and some said that asus mobo's, where tend to be used for running servers,, bleh so idk wtf half the ppl are talkign about lol, i just wish to know if it was good if i wanted to make my own computer from the ground up, main purpose for gaming

Yes, the P5B are good gaming boards. Whoever told you that ASUS are only used for servers, was pulling your leg. However, if you have any plans to overclock, stay away from the regular P5B. The P5B-E, P5B-Deluxe and P5B-Deluxe/Wi-Fi-AP are all great overclockers, and all-around great Core2Duo boards. GL

I also own a vanilla, Green P5B and i most say that i'm quite satisfied with it. Although i havent overclocked any components in my new PC yet, i've read that the P5B is a great overclocker (according to other people who have OC'd), especially for the money.
The only prob is that it hasn't got a firewire connection, which i miss a bit.

P5B...Limited voltage adjustments(for overclocking),limited BIOS options,passive chipset cooling, only 1-16xPCIe lane.

P5B-E...more voltage adjustments, better BIOS(overclocking/stability). Passive chipset cooling. 1-16xPCIe lane.

P5B-Deluxe...Great BIOS/voltage/tweaking adjustments. 8-Phase power circuitry(for increased stabilty/overclocking). Heat-pipe cooling on Northbridge/MOSFETS. CrossFire ready(1-16xPCIe + 1-4xPCIe lanes).

P5B-Deluxe WiFi/AP...Same features as P5B-Deluxe + WiFi + can be used as a wireless Access Point.

Those are the most noteworthy differences between the boards....GL

i think i will go with the P5B-Deluxe WiFi/AP, simply because it has wi-fi, i dont want to have to go by another wireless chip ontop of everything else, how much do you think the cost diference between the normal P5B and the P5B-Deluxe WiFi/AP?
