I have a X1900XTX and I am interested in overclocking it. My qustion is whether I should use the "ATI's Overdrive" function from the Catalyst Control Center, or should I install and use the Riva Tuner utility and what are the advantages(if any) of each?
Also my windows detects my card as a Radeon X1900Series instead of X1900XTX. I don't know if thats just how ATI's drivers are or is it something I should be concerned about. I've never used an ATI card before therefore I don't know if thats how they are beeing detected. Nvidias are detected as the exact card, rather than series, like Evga 6800Gt for instance.
either of those work, i have used ATI tool before as well. ATI tool also offers unlocking for some of the cards that qualify. http://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/
just remember to take it slow, and go in small increments (5 mhrz or so) but look around for overclocking guides there are lots, just google for them.
