the standard setting from JEDEC *ram organization perhaps* is that the ddr2 should be running within this 1.8v range. but in order to get the timing to 4-4-4-12 and run stable, your corsair needs to be charged up with 2.1v as it said itself at first place.

i notice that some of the ddr2 manufacturers only give warranty up to 2.2v, upper than that you will lose your warranty. but that's not the case if the original one comes from the manufacturer itself said that it will run at higher voltage rating.

SPD values are set at lower performance in order to make your system bootable, since all systems default to 1.80V.
