Good price. However, as is always the case, for just a bit more scratch you can have one of the flavors of the GT, GTO, GTO2, X800PRO, or 7600GS. All of which are immenently better.

For nostalgia purposes it would be neat to have a 9800Pro but that's it.

wasnt their a thread on here with an ad for a 6600gt for like $50?? i'd take that over the 9800. still a decent find. but with the x800pro @ $99 and more than twice the performance...

Agreed. 6600GT's are pretty decent for a budget build if you are just tossing something together for older games and stuff. I just sold a pair of them, SLI'ed in my current setup, they performed pretty well and they overclocked well also. Not sure how the 9800 Pro overclocks, but my friend has a 9600 Pro that overclocks like mad if the room is cool.

9600pro's were rather notorious for a good overclock.

the stock cooling solutions for 256mb 9800pro's sucked real bad. which is why they used a better design for the 9800xt. but my 9800pro (late version carried the R360 core) overclocked quite nicely.

9700 pro would be even more nostalgic. Just read through an old PC gamer where they were promoting the "new" 9800PRO for only 440$. Heh. I rofld at that myself...

Well the GTO's are about $130 from what I have seen; almost double the price. But sure I agree with you that X800GTO or X850 pro would be alot better. But for those who are looking to spend alot less, this thing brand new for $70 shipped is good for adding life to an old rig.
