Hello, with the stock heatsink and without any overclock, my temps are pretty good, it's around 28-32 C when idle, and about 53 when full loaded.

However, when I overclocked it to 2.1G, the idle temp increase from 32-45C, is that normal to you guys, why would it jump so high just for a bit of overclock? and when it's full loaded, it's over 60C...

Also, I don't understand why somepeople only get couple degree of jump from idle to full load, for me, I get a huge jump from idle to full load, and sometime, just open some program, my temp would jump from 32 to 37 and drop it back after a second or so...

I need some advice, I'm looking to overclock this to at least 2.1 and higher.

I wonder if the contact between your processor and your heatsink is as efficient as it could be. It sounds like you don't have a really good interface.

This is probably it.

I know it's not good, but I used Q-tip and the 91% alcohol to clean my interface everytime I needs to.

It's probably also the way I apply the arctic silver 5.

Can you please tell me the best way to clean it, and the best way to apply arctic silver 5?

Thanks

Depending on which bios version you are running for your Gigabyte DS3, when you overclock even the slightest the vcore jumps from 1.325V to 1.4250V. This would explain the jump in temp. Use EasyTune to monitor your temp and vcore. It should tell you in that program. I have the S3 mobo and as soon as I updated from F2 - F4 bios, I notice the increase in vcore when performing the slightest overclock. You can manually set the vcore in the bios to 1.325V. Your temp shouldnt really increase all that much with such a slight overclock. I run my e6600 @ 3.2Ghz 360FSB x 9 multiplier with Vcore set at 1.325V manual settings. I can run 390 x 9 for a 3.5Ghz speed @ 1.425 Vcore. The temp is 32 degrees idle 40 degrees under load. Without increasing the Vcore the e6600 idles at 28 degrees.

no. USE TAT to monitor temps. it will read much hotter. speed fan reads like 30 idle but TAT reads like 45.

im pretty sure theres no way my ocd proccesor is running at room temp. or even close to it.
