AVOID iomega NAS StoreCenter 500

Relating a bad experience with an iomega product.

Purchased an iomega StoreCenter 500 a couple of weeks ago. And as of today have returnedd it three times for replacement.

Three units were defective right out of the box.

Two of the units never achieved the mythical "blue" light of life and the last unit was stable for all of twelve hours before sucumbing to the latest incarnation of iomega's famous "Click of Death".

Online help was useless. Happy to have a responsible local vendor who gave me my money back.

Perhaps that was a bad batch... if you kept going back to the same store, that's very likely. Maybe that store did something to piss off their UPS driver.

Yeah... I have had bad luck with iomega NAS units. I've run a 2tb and 3tb NAS unit from iomega, and both of them had HDDs go out (they replaced them, but I'm talking multiple HDDs within 6 months on one unit, which is horrible).

They are cheap, but you really do get what you pay for in this case.
