I just installed both cards X1950XTX crossfire edition and crossfire ready.
The problem I'm having is when playing FEAR at 1680 x1050 with everything maxed out the game seems too stutter and lockup for a second every few seconds. I have install the newest driver for FEAR 1.8 and my V-card driver is current form the disk. I thought you were able to play FEAR at everything maxed with these cards. Is this right? ALso when playing Battlefield 2142 the main menu flickers. Oh by the way crossfire is enabled in the menu. Every other game runs great with those cards. I was able to get the second card $350 from www.microcenter.com special deal. Any help would be appreciated.

ye i would look to the newest drivers from the website. it would help if you said which version as anything less than 6.8 won't do. if the problems persist report back
I have the current drivers for the video cards. I spoke to ATI and they said do not use the drivers for the X1950XTX cards on their website because at the moment they dont have updated drivers except for what on the disk for those cards. The disk drivers are up to date. Any other suggestins? I thought you could run full max for the cards in crossfire. I also heard that FEAR really supports nvidia drivers better is that true? This would be real bummer all that money spent on those cards.
yeah i think the engine used for fear likes nvidia cards , nevertheless your money was not wasted, the 1950xtx compares to the 7950gx2... oooooo So what, you got the fastest ATI card ATM, thats good!!!!!! Not bad.... Or you could give the two to me and you can have my x700se
it should work with full settings, though fear is a graphical intensive game (though oblivion is even worse....)
actually the 6.10's have just been released and they support the x1950's. i would go to their website and download them. it can be a pain having the latest stuff and trust me their is nothing from nvidia and hasn't been for a year that can compete with ATI's highend cards(x1800 up) in FEAR.
latest BIOS?That might also help... If you haven't got it alredy
Latest drivers/BIOSes are cruicial really, every new release should bring a slight gain in performance, though they do release drivers that make a noticable difference to the computer sometimes...
ATI/AMD released an updated video card driver once a month, and I seriously doubt any retail graphic card purchased has a driver disc included printed and distributed in under one month.
Open up your CCC (Catalyst Control Center) in advanced view
then select Information Center, then click your Graphics Software...
Are you running Catalyst Version 6.9?
last time i checked yes. fear likes shaders. of course to get the benefit you need high res and high detail levels which you use im sure. if you look at reviews for instance make sure they are using res's like 16 x 12 and up and also everything maxed with AA and AF.
I was wondering a while ago why the 1900gt hurt performance because of its disabled pixel shader units, (36 instead of 48) and of course they are pixel quads...
