A note of caution. While Clubit's web site "appears" to be back in business, the following article states:

Quote :

Reader dudersnoopz tipped us off to PC Club and its subsidiary Club IT both closing down yesterday, laying off all its employees and declaring bankruptcy. Because PC Club is pretty much a regional store (we have one or two fond memories of picking up parts there in the '90s), it's unlikely that they'll get another company to bail them out like CompUSA. So long PC Club. [Hard OCP]

PC Club and Club IT Closed, Laying Off All Employees

I would be hesitant to do business with a company that probably will be unable to stand behind any products it might still be able to deliver and, more importantly, unable to issue refunds.

Buyer beware!

NAOC Holdings Acquires PC Club and ClubIT

- S&S Public Relations Mindy Franklin (480)361-9575 mindy@sspr.com NAOC Holdings, a Los Angeles-based expansion stage venture capital firm, today announced it has acquired PC Club, a California-based personal computer retailing chain with 37 locations nationwide. The acquisition will allow all PC Club stores, as well as the chain's two retail Web sites, PCClub.com and ClubIT.com, to remain open with business as usual.

"Brick-and-mortar accessory computer stores are still a valued commodity in the US," said NAOC spokesperson Alan Hunter. "We know PC Club with its long history, quality technical service and computer accessory assortment will continue to have strong potential for continued business operations. A technology retail outlet is the next logical addition to our portfolio, and we expect this will be a mutually beneficial relationship."

NAOC Holdings has put together a group of legal, financial, and industry experts to build one of the leading home computer appliance conglomerates. The technology investment experience the company will bring to the relationship is invaluable for PC Club's retail offerings.

"Our new relationship with NAOC Holdings will give us an opportunity to grow our market share and expand beyond the western and central US," remarked Kim Chu, Senior Sales Manager at PC Club. "In addition, we'll now have the ability to reorganize and to work on expanding our compelling product line."

NAOC's acquisition of PC Club will leverage the venture capital firm's already broad investment experience with consumer electronics. Today's acquisition of PC Club's assets will allow the retailer to honor all customer and vendor relationships and agreements.

PC Club has existed as a computer parts store and repair center for professionals all across the country, offering upgrade kits, LCD monitors and other computer parts and services since 1992. The company expects the added infusion of funds to provide the means for them to expand from their current 37 locations.

The acquisition was effective as of May 15, 2008. Financial terms were not disclosed.

About NAOC

This does suck. I have a mobo that is bad and is under their "1 year warranty" policy. I've been trying to call for a week and could not get in touch with anyone. Now I know why I cannot and what's worse, Gigabyte (the manufacturer of the board) takes 3 weeks for an RMA. I can't be without my computer for 3-weeks. Clubit and Gigabyte suck imo.

Ok, so more people need to be reading this thread because I just saw a thread about ordering from clubit. BUYER BEWARE! This company is not doing well. In this free market system, no one is guaranteed anything! Our economies across the globe are collapsing as I speak!(lolz typse) This probably will lead to a great increase in scams so everyone just needs to watch out.. I just hope NewEgg isn't going to go under as well. (I ordered my stuff 2 weeks ago and it still isn't here!)

Guys - Clubit is DONE ... TOAST! Their old website is now for general crap - not related to tech. I suspect the original "we're back in business" notice posted months ago in this thread was some lame attempt by a liquidator to sell off remaining inventories.

I suspect there is no one at the end of the old phone lines. Regretfully, I suspect that any warranties they sold are worthless.

AFAIK, Newegg is still doing well. I've ordered and received items recently (yesterday, in fact) that were priced well and shipped appropriately.

I might be suspect of some of the rebate processing houses at this point though.
