Ok..I had a previous post about upgrading my 9800 pro, but it's somewhat buried, sorry

I ran a little program called PC Wizard and here is what my board is:

Asus P4S533VL

Under AGP Bus it says version 2 and the transfer rate is x4

I'm kinda lost as to what card I should get here. My Radeon 9800 pro crapped out on me.

Would that board be able to handle any of these cards? I've tried looking for more detailed specs for this board but couldn't find the exact model even on Asus's site.

Thanks!

One last thing : can someone tell me why when I play games the video flickers and then I get a no connection message, but when I'm surfing the net I have no problems at all?

of all of those i would recommend the x800GT0, its the most powerful of the bunch, are you trying to not go higher then $130? i wouldn't worry about compatibility problems unless you've had them in the past

check this out, it will likely help http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/10/31/the_best_video_cards_for_your_money/page4.html

the system flickers. is this only been with your current video card or previous ones as well? it might be your PSU crapping out on you. the AGP 2 is just a revision, and all AGP cards are backwards compatible and 4x AGP will be fine for most AGP cards.

what is your system build btw? especially your PSU.

I think I know what the problem is. My PC only has a 180w PSU. No way will this be enough for any semi-new card.

I guess I could buy a new PSU and then a new card, but then I may as well buy a new PC.

Bleh! :?

if you want, if your budget can go for it core 2's are really nice. but ya 180 watts..... that would be your problem. thats really on the low end. look around toms just posted an article about video cards, and its good for a reference. you could pick up a new card and PSU if you want. but AGP is going away. now would be a good time to upgrade (if you dont mind ram prices being a bit insane, but they should be back down around christmas) lower end AM2's (dual cores) are a good deal for the money, after that, again, if your budget allows you cant go wrong with a core duo 2
