My DVD drive is only reading at like .5-1.3x when I am backing dvd's up. I am not sure what the problem is. The dvd's play fine so I am at a loss. any help would be appreciated

The solution to all these problems is almost always replacing the drive, I'm afraid. TBH though it's not really that much of a biggie - in the UK DVD±RW drives are about £25 now, so wherever you are they're bound to be cheap.

You could try a lens cleaner, but that might not work and they cost about £5 anyway if you don't already have one. I'd just get a new drive.

I thouhgt of that but it is only when using one program, and the drive seems to work fine with my other software reading and writing etc. its seems like there must be a conflict someplace to slow it down, but i am not sure where to check. o and the drive is a 16x read 8x write. i forgot to mention that before

hi.
the speeds that are u geting are normaly in belove conditions.
when you read a copy protected disc the speeds are low,
when the media you read are not clean or they are scratched.
