I hope that this is the right forum...wasn't sure.

Helping a buddy (first build for both of us) with a new machine. Everything is put together and seems ok but we've run into a very strange problem. Here is the hardware:

550 Watt Antec TRUE POWER 2.0 Quiet Power Supply
Asus P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe
E6400
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro
2048MB Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800
1024MB eVGA NVIDIA® GeForce™ 7950 GX2
320GB Western Digital WD3200KS 7200rpm SATA/300

The only software currently loaded, other than windows, is WoW.

The system seems stable until he is DONE playing WoW. He can play for as long as he wants with no problems. However, once he is done the cursor starts to flicker and within about 10 minutes the machine does a hard lock up. We actually have to pull the plug in order to shut it down so that we can reboot. Left it overnight and it was fine this morning. As soon as we loaded WoW and ended...bang same thing.

Any ideas what the heck might be going on here?

Very odd. After the lockup, how do the temps look? Also get something and try to monitor them during gameplay to see if they spike.

Make sure you have the most recent video card drivers and chipset drivers installed as well.

sup RVJ;

Did you OC this or whats the deal, if so your memory might not be stable causing the problem, also some software doesnt cope with OCing very well, and will have issues.
Let us know.

Sorry, should have stated that we haven't begun overclocking yet. Wanted to make sure that the system was rock solid first.

Good idea on the video drivers...looks like he loaded the viewsonic ones from the disc but there is a more recent one on the website. Hopefully this is it...

Also, fixed the flickering mouse...turns out WoW was causing it...found a tech note that fixed it.
