Have a new 4070 and cannot make decent copies using the copy function either
from the front panel or the HP Director.
I'm running XP. What happens is that there seems to be no way to get a B/W
copy from the scanner window unless I go to "Fast" and set the darkness
control as light as possible. This produces a poor quality copy. If I move
the "Quality" selector to "Normal or Best" it switches into grey scale mode.
It seems that there is no way to have good quality and also B/W. (1-bit) I
have been working with HP support for 2 days now to no avail. I wonder if
anyone else has this set-up and can try it and let me know.
Thanks,
Gord

Check out Art-Copy @ http://www.scanhelp.com

There is some shareware that will allow you to test it out. We actually had
a customer recently buy the software because of this very issue. We allow
for a true black and white scan, which gives you a true black and white
output to your printer.
