Ok, for Christmas i am getting a new 19 inch widescreen lcd. However i feel my current pc is lackluster and i have $1500 to spend. My question: should i upgrade my graphics card now (perhaps 7800GS agp) and spend the remaining 1250 on a new pc next summer or just live with my 6600gt until next spring. I am interested in playing oblivion and FEAR and supreme commander. Thanks.

Well personaly I would stay with the GF 6600GT. Because the GF 7800GS is just a rip off. BUT if you are willing to spend cash on a new VGA. I would wait a little because the ATI x1950PRO will be for AGP and It should out perform the GF7800GS.As for FEAR and Oblivian, you can still play them with a GF 6600GT just that Oblivian has to be on medium.. Because of right now their isn't a card out there that can actually play Oblivian on MAX with decent FPS.
I play FEAR everything on High except Textures on Medium.

I would wait as you plan on building a new system and 7800GS's aren't worth the money($235 on Newegg)

If you really think you need a graphics boost then maybe a 7600GS at $130(Newegg) but i don't think it is worth it either.

unless you go for a 7950GX2 and are fine playing in 640x480 windowed.
Yes I bet that wouldn't be SO bad BUT last time I checked their is no GF7950GX2 for AGP. :(

That's pretty impressive, considering your system. What resolution do you play at for this to be possible? I only ask as I'm unable to go high at any resolution beyond 1024x768, while keeping it perfectly smooth.

Well I play it at 1024x768 and it runs smooth like 30-40FPS. I don't know what I do for it just goes great.
