How the floating point calculation performance compare between the core 2 duo and the pentium 4 or the AMD 64 bits processors.

Yay 3 Quebec poster in on thread w000t.

I think the FP is on of the A64 stentght.
The Core 2 Duo has to big of a speed advantage for the A64 to come on top though.

What kind of benchmark you're looking for?

Although FPU is one of the strength of K8,
the efficient pre-fetching logics and the full 128-bit SSE execution units
help Core Architecture to win K8.

Only if the prog allows the SSE registers to handle FPU.
SSE is where the core2 is king.

Jack: Why is AMD's FPU stronger than the C2D's? Any particular reason Intel didn't address this uarch weakness?
