How the floating point calculation performance compare between the core 2 duo and the pentium 4 or the AMD 64 bits processors.

    depend on how the application is written..

    I think the FP is on of the A64 stentght.
    The Core 2 Duo has to big of a speed advantage for the A64 to come on top though.

    What kind of benchmark you're looking for?

    Although FPU is one of the strength of K8,
    the efficient pre-fetching logics and the full 128-bit SSE execution units
    help Core Architecture to win K8.
  5. Only if the prog allows the SSE registers to handle FPU.
    SSE is where the core2 is king.

  8. Jack: Why is AMD's FPU stronger than the C2D's? Any particular reason Intel didn't address this uarch weakness?
