I'm trying to connect to a user-authenticated campus Wifi network using
PEAP.
This is the quick connect settings guide from the campus website.

SSID (Network Name) TTUnet
WEP data encryption Enabled
Automatically provided WEP key Enabled
IEEE 802.1x authentication Enabled
EAP type Protected EAP (PEAP)
Protected EAP Authentication Method Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)
EAP MSCHAP v2 Properties - Automatically Login Disabled

I am using a laptop with Mandrake 10.0 and a builtin broadcom wireless g
adaptor(I had to use ndiswrapper to make it work). The system connects to
both WEP and open APs with no problems. The new variables here are PEAP,
autmatically provided WEP key, and the login after association. I have
the username/password that's required.

I tried using Xsupplicant, the only utility I could find on the subject,
but I get inconsistent log errors and many "the network is down" errors.
I know this network is functional since my XP fiends are doing just fine.
I am not confident that I configured Xsupplicant correctly, but I am lost
on finding the error.

Any suggestions?

One of the most common issues I see in PEAP deployments is when the
RADIUS server's root certificate is not installed on the client. Make
sure that you have the appropriate root cert. If that's not the
problem, your best bet is probably to check out the documentation at
http://www.open1x.org/ , or post to their mailing list.
