Finally got the money for my planned build. Recent talk of new motherboards has made me waver a bit though.... would it be worth waiting to see what new chipsets come out? Could they make much difference to system performance on gaming and video converting? Here's my planned system:
ASUS P5WDH Deluxe;
E6600 C2D;
2 x 1Gb Mushkin PC6400 4-4-3-10;
150 Gb Raptor
Already got a 7800GT I'm gonna use until DX10 cards come out.
Planning on overclocking to 3.0GHz with stock HS/F.
motherboards have little to do with actual performance. if you have the money now and are sure you know what you want. buy now, or wait till Christmas for ram prices to come down. but even then. don't wait long. there is no need to. you may want to get an after market cooler if you want to hit 3ghz, thats a big overclock for a stock heat sink, and no two proccessers overclock the same. just a thing to consider.
