A long time reader of tom's hardware, I never felt I could add any meaningful contribution to the forums so I was content browsing the opinions, tests and articles others more in touch with the industry have written. It has been quite a fruitful relationship, even if a rather parasitical one

However, with the redesign of the site I felt I couldn't stand on the side anymore. Even if beauty is in the eye of the beholder a good design should at first satisfy the thirst for knowledge and then be visually pleasing.
So to cut it short, here are a few personal hurts :kaola:
- speed. AJAX is nice but I have something like 16Mb download bandwith and still the site hangs sometimes. Article page selection component takes a full 2 - 3 seconds to load - same for adding components in the charts
- too small "last forum posts" frame in main page; I really liked the way I could skim to the principal page before, see what were the last discussions, read a few and learn something new, even if there were no new articles. Starting to skimmer all forums isn't really a time saver and in the last weeks I found myself going less and less to "www.tomshardware.com"
- an older gripe: articles with 15 - 20 + pages. I understand why this is needed - after all I'm consuming quality for free so advertising pays for the fun - but the new slower speed makes the loading between pages much more annoying - 15 - 20 times more annoying
- too much fluf - I have a 24" monitor and yet all I can see on the main page as useful info are 19 articles links + 5 news links (not very important for me) + 10 forums links. Taking into account the fact that articles appear (as an estimated) one each 3 - 4 days I only 8 useful links  On a 1920x1200 resolution :non:
- charts (I checked them from time to time to settle a question or compare value) - they're nicer and allow for better comparations. However, besides praying for them to be faster :D I would like to see generation by generation selection (for graphical cards) and socket for processors. Btw, the main page link for the "Processors chart" goes to "Mobile processors" - it should definitely go to the desktop ones (which also isn't listed on the quick access menu in the charts part of the site :kaola: ).

These are a few of my gripes with the new layout - they may not be representative for the majority of readers and some of them aren't easy to fix (especially the speed issue) but at least trying to solve them will put at ease a worried fan - so thanks :D

EDIT :a few gramatical errors
