My friend gave me his old laptop, a Sony PCG-F630. It really isn't all that much to get excited about, but for just typing papers and some light surfing, it should be fine. Anyway, it has a 12gig hard drive in it and I wanted to replace it with a bigger one. My problem is trying to figure out if just about any drive will work in there. From what I have found, it looks like the one before is an ATA 5 interface running at 4200rpm. Looking at new egg, i can find some ATA 6 but no ATA 5. Is that important? Will a 6 work? Can i get a 5400 to get a little speed boost? Will just about any 2.5 drive work or do I have to worry about other things? Thanks!
