Well i am looking at getting a 4600 x2 here very shortly, i have an asrock dualsata2 board so i can get the AM2 cpu card for it and go with a AM2, but am i required to use DDR2 with AM2? or can i use my current DDR, since i have 2gb of DDR at the moment i don't really want to get rid of it and get DDR2 just yet, cant afford to do that at this time. Otherwise ille just have to get a S939 4600 x2.

939=DDR
AM2=DDR2
All K8 Cpu's have their memory controller on die. So if you go AM2 you have to go DDR2 also. There is no way around that sorry.

well yeah you have tp go 939 sorry
I checked the am2 cpu upgrade card and it doesnt work with ddr1 only with ddr2. And about quad core. I don't think it's worth it .Software isn't really optimised for that. Your x2 shoul last you at least a year before bottlenecking
