Excellent, EXCELLENT, funny as hell review of Bioshock.
With an accent.
Also, be sure to read the creds at the end. Some funny shizznit there too....
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/ar [...] n-BioShock
I was reading an article by Michael Yon and he was talking about how Iraqis also play computer games and do what every kid does. This article is at least 2 weeks old at this point.
I'm not sure of the release date of Bioshock, but the Iraqis already had it and were playing it. Apparently they liked it as well.
Play the vid man, it will have you laughing out loud.
The Psychonauts vid/review was funny as hell too.
I'm at work and been doing stuff.. don't have time.
I created customized network installs of Office 2k7 Standard/Pro. Exciting.
/me quivers in excitement.
Count your blessings. I am checking other people's calculations for a building. Brace frame splices, oh joy.
Ok, the video is funny.
I like the wrench part. Ah, but its a different wrench!
Did you read the note at the end?
"If you were offended by the picture of Mother Teressa eating babies......"
Good stuff.
And pretty spot on. I played Bio, great game but he is really really on.
"How can a steam powered turret tell the difference between you and anyone else?" (paraphrased).
The only game I play right now is BF2.
I tried playing CS:S but that game fcuking blows. I can't believe people like that game.
read the somethingawful review,
If you still have CS:S, there is a guy on another site that is doing a full workup of the WTC (not in game mode, just model).
From the renderings I have seen it is pretty good. I have not been able to get it to work right on my system though. (I got CS:S with HL2.....)
Great link.
CS:S blows.. just as most of the Counter Strike series after the original.
All people do is throw grenades for 5-10 minutes.. and when they run they shoot the last couple people alive.
I like games that require more than blindly throwing frags and hoping to get a kill. geez.
I am not saying it is good. I never got into it.
I was an old school UT 1999 fan. That is what got me hooked on the whole thing.
Actually, Castle Wolfenstein first on the Apple IIe, then on the PC is what hooked me.
Phuk, http://www.somethingawful.com/d/we [...] flames.php I have to admit, the review fooled me. I just thought the guy was a bit misinformed. Funny though!
I never liked UT'99 either.
Too much jump and random shooting.
I remember mech warriors too. blah.
Duke Nuke'em was good... when you could do the hologram thing.
I was a big fan of Rogue Spear. I liked the slower, more strategic games that were more realistic.
Now games are all the same, bringing nothing new to it. I was a big fan of Warcraft until III came out.. and the Heroes thing, while cool, ruined it.
That was cool...
I'm playing BF2 ATM as well... Well, not RIGHT now, but it's in my DVD drive.
That was cool...

um obviously riser you have never really played CS:S. the grenades are the weakest grenades in any video game... hell all the players even call them flower grenades, it takes a lot of luck to actually kill someone with those **** things.
heheh... CS:S player you are not...
hmm, since we're mentioning online games, have to say red oprchestra is the great. Well not isf you like something as random as bf2, in RO where your gun aims is where the bullet goes, something that the makers of BF2 can't quite understand.
RO is great. It's relative difficulty to BF2 weeds out the lame fcuks usually too. It reminds me of WWII online.
yeah most "battlefield" games suck dick, i mean its cool that you can have a massive force attacking another massive force but the really didnt pay attention to the whole aiming thing, like you said, SS. although i did enjoy the 1942 DC mod, it was pretty good.
if you want to find a different mod thats good for BF2, try "Project Reality"
its all decent although its still built on the BF2 engine.
I miss 1942 DC capture the flag. Oh was that fun to play when hammered.
*hates MMORPGs with a passion, doesn't really play games anyway*
I hate nerd acronyms.
But you LOOOOOVE the nerds that use them.
Irony, meet your spokesperson (It all starts with a name TS!!!! ;P)
Mikey did you ever go onto the Highspirits server with the rest of G2G and play CZ? If you get playing again at somepoint I'll come and run around with you as cannon fodder lol. I need to get some prctice in so I can play clan matches. As you are already part of G2G put the [G2G] tag infront of your name when you play any CS, they'll respect you for that as we are a well known CS clan
I got bored with the game after a couple days of trying it out.
I was playing an office like map.. for nearly 3 minutes they were throwing frags back and forth down an alley kind of way. I went downstairs, got a cup of coffee, came back up, and still had to wait until people ran out of them and started actually shooting.
The so called Flower Grenades won't kill you.. but after dodging them for 3 minutes, you can take some damage, or 5-6 can kill you if you get caught by the other idiots behind you blocking you.
I liked America's Army.. when people started tossing frags randomly or over buidlings, they changed the game that if you threw it into a certain area, the frag would just disappear. That eliminated the CS style of randomly throwing frags.
I like strategic games.. CS really isn't even fun. Though, I found America's Army to be more realistic and fun. Seems like the English all play that game.. only found a couple Americans and then I had to listen to everyone scream into their mics, "Watch the friendly fire from the American."
Which, I admit, I did laugh as I shot my teammates.
there are so many maps you haven't played, you just need to get on the right servers. The ones we play on are very strategic because we all play in matches and therefore have to be able to play in a varied manner
The game would be better if there were no frags allowed. Period. I could easily run around shooting and killing people. I just got annoyed by the constant barrage of frags in the choke points.
In some of our games we can only use knives so I think you just need to get onto our servers
yeah you played, cs_office. heh. play scout_knives,
I quite like that one where the Ts only have knives and slide down these shoots, pigeon something, the CTs sit in a building and shoot at the Ts, it's funny as hell, especially when you are talking over ventrilo at the same time
Yeah but that would get boring after a couple rounds at best.
you are too easily bored babes
ADD.
Advanced Dungeons and Dragons?
FFS that's the second time I've heard that is less than a minute. WTF is going on? There are nerds everywhere. I'm off to get some food and possibly hit the battle cruiser.
what you going to hit it with?
As for UT, the best part of that game was the community participation.
My favorite maps and mods wee all created by people playing the game, not the original creators.
It made for really good fun when you played maps like Zeitgeist, or a mod like Dr. Strangelove (ride the redeemer!).
You also needed good people to play. You get stuck with a bunch of adolescent whiners or spawn campers (or even worse, hack/botters) that are not out to have fun only to cause trouble and you will be on and off within the hour.
I never really got into CS:S probably for that reason. the community was, generally, more juvenile.
Hopefully with games like the new Far Cry, Crysis, UT3 and the like, we can get some games that have the shoot-em-up adrenaline but that can also have a bit of strategy involved to liven things up for the non button-mashers.
Who knows.
I really do need to get my speakers back, I'm missing sound on this PC, I'll install and play Dawn of War
ark Crusade then with the clan
I like games that are more strategic and precise. I liked America's Army because people would get restless after a minute and make mistakes..
Games where you volley back and forth until someone makes a mistake and you take advantage of it.
UT was run around, keep moving until you caught someone off guard. Games where once you're dead, you're dead until the round is over are more my style. CS:S does this poorly though.. its a fast paced game intended on getting more rounds in while giving up quality of play.
I'd rather play a quality game than play more rounds of a crappy game. Except that Arrow Masters game everyone got hooked on. haha
have you tried DoD Source?
UT also had a LMS mode (last man standing) Rise.
It all depended on what server you were on.
Also, games like CTF were usually spammy, but had more of an underlying plan of action associated with them.
Mods like Team Fortress were also fun to play.
Oh, if you want more strat in a futuristic game, you may want to see if Tribes is still running. That was a tough one to play as a spammer. You had to pick your armor type (Light, medium, heavy) and your loadout depending on your selected armor.
You had guys that could deploy supply stations, and turrets and the like, snipers, mortar, just about everything. And your guy was FAR from invincable.
It was a tough one to get the hang of though..... And if you did not play with people you were used to/teaming with, you got wiped by more organized groups....
If you want more realism, try the Rainbow 6 group. LV was nice.
The last thing I want to do is get on my computer when I go home.
I check my mail, print directions, and leave.
I played Planetside for the first month.. it was cool for a bit but there was no point in what you were doing. You gained nothing.. then everyone quit playing and no one was around.
It had a nice concept though.
meh.
Who said anything about home?
This is for your work machine!
So that's why I never get to talk to you on AIM or MSN anymore then Mikey
I'm sure you'd prefer him in the flesh. In every sense of the word.
Oh hell yeah, enough of that talk now or the screen will start getting blurry
WTF is wrong with going out drinking and playing pool? You basement of nerds.
I'll say nothing then about his glistening helmet pushing deeply inside you [/unfair]
