monitor reads no signal

i just built my first machine. i installed a nvidia graphics card and hooked it up to my monitor and i get no signal. the fans on the processor and on my case are all on and the power light on the motherboard is on. but there are no beeps when first starting the machine. could someone help me with the problem

i fixed the problem of my machine getting no signal. but now i get cmos checksum error but i do get the post beep what are possible solutions to this problem? and i have Kingston HyperX 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
