CMOS checksum error-defults loaded

i received this message after booting my computer up for the first time. the message occurs and i cant use the keyboard. it says F1 to continue or DEL to enter setup and none work. what are possible soultions to this problem?

Hold down the delete key while booting when it enters CMOS setup set the date and time save and exit.
