I have read the forumz and seen many recommendations for various boards when it comes to overclocking. I am not a hardcore overclocker myself, I am simply after a budget C2D computer that I can overclock with the stock cooler. As for the memory I am considering CORSAIR 2GB VS DDR2 PC4200 533MHZ CL4 (2X1GB).
I doubt the stock cooler will allow overclocking to the maximum levels provided by the more expensive boards, so which then would you recommend considering the price?

These are the boards I can choose from:
P5B - $178
P5B-E - $216
P5B Deluxe (No WiFi) - $236
P5B-E Plus - $243

Any recommendations?

Don't get the standard P5B. That one doesn't overclock well. I don't know about the P5B-E but looks a lot like the P5B, so I don't really trust the overclocking there either.

P5B Deluxe is a good overclocker, P5B-E Plus is a bit the same board, but with other types of capacitors that are supposed to live longer, however, the capacitor on the P5B Deluxe should live long enough for a lot of years of computing.

Thanx for the tip. Seems like the P5B Deluxe is one of if not the most popular boards on the forum.
Btw, do I need faster RAM when overclocking with the stock cooler?
I saw the article where they got it over 3GHz, but they also had faster RAMs.
There's alot of buzz about reducing the multiplier and upping the fsb to get 1:1 timings with cpu and memory. Is this doable with 533MHz corsairs, P5B Deluxe and E6400 with out of box cooler?

These RAM modules already run @ 1:1 so you can't change that anymore.

These settings are mostly changed for 2 reasons:
- First is decrease the multipliers to get the ram run slower and in return be able to get the fsb higher (since this increases the ram speed again).
- To give the chipset less work and thus possibly giving higher overclockability (since 1:1 is pretty simple to work with, but with for example 2:3, you have the chipset working much more for buffering and all that stuff).
