Im thinking about upgrading my graphics card from an ATi Radeon x800XL to something that supports Shader Model 3 (For splinter cell 4).

Can anyone recommend a card thats cheapish and still a worthy upgrade?

I think the above 2 are a proper upgrade in terms of performance, can anyone suggest which one?

From the two youve listed go with the radeon X1950XT anyday. Its way better. Just check the VGA charts on this site and see for your self. For something a bit cheaper go with the 7900GTO.

Wait a week or so, with the launch of the GF8 series you should see some prices changes very shortly.

Well I'd think there'd be downward pressure on at least the entire GF7 line, but probably the X1950s too. And since it's only the high end that's got potential supply issues, the GTS should be near it's MSRP (although having a shortage of top end parts puts upward pressure on the channel as well).

I suspect by this time next week we should see a 10% drop in all GF79xxs and 5-10% from ATi's high end too, and likely more for the very top of boh companies, probably with the GX2 simply being withdrawn instead of dropping more than 10%.

Of course that's just my two frames' worth as always.

hmm while that probably will happen over there for you guys i doubt over here in ireland that that will impact prices too much.

Truth is i dont really need an upgrade its just that i want to play splintercell 4 and the game onyl supports Shader Model 3 graphics cards.
